Moyne Health hopes to have a site cleared next to the Port Fairy hospital by the end of November for its new $4.5 million community health building.
“Our game plan is to have Fairbrother Constructions finish the demolitions by November,” Moyne Health chief executive David Lee said. “Ideally we’d like to see construction start by June next year and completed by June 2016.”
The building, which will be built with $1.5 million in community donations, will include an underground car park, a ground level for allied health services such as physiotherapy and podiatry and a vacant first floor.
“We’re hoping to get a dental clinic in there, meeting rooms and consultation rooms. It all depends on funding,” Mr Lee said.
Moyne Health also needs another $1.9 million to relocate the urgent health unit to the main hospital and is yet to hear back from Ambulance Victoria over whether it will relocate its Port Fairy ambulance station to the site.
The second stage of the Moyne Health’s redevelopment of its aged care services will cost another $27 million to house all its services under the one roof.
Mr Lee said the high price tag meant it would likely have to be carried out in several phases.
