Hosted by Corangamite Shire Council in partnership with School Focused Youth Services Corangamite, the forum will be held on Wednesday from 4.15pm at the Killara Centre.
Corangamite youth development officer Angela Gowans said five experts in their fields would be making presentations on a range of health and well-being issues relevant to young people.
“The purpose of the forum is for the leadership, teaching and well-being staff of Corangamite schools and local agency workers to share information regarding programs and resources that can be accessed to support students at school,” Mrs Gowans said.
“It is hoped that the forum will be an annual event for local schools, allowing an opportunity for school staff to receive professional development experience while at the same time being able to network with colleagues from all of the schools across the shire.”
Mrs Gowans said Brett Bridges and Dr Sarah Biggs, along with local presenters, would feature at the forum.
“Dr Biggs will be speaking about the importance of good sleep hygiene and how inadequate sleep can affect learning and memory and Mr Bridges will work with attendees to develop their competence, capacity and confidence in their work/ involvement in mental health related issues,” she said.
“The forum is about making the local connections and working together to support our young people to be successful and I encourage local school staff to get on board and support the event.”
