Residents paired up with pupils from St John’s Primary School for a variety of athletic events.
In the lead-up to the sports day, students and residents came together fortnightly to plan the event.
Mercy Place lifestyle co-ordinator Annemaree Stonehouse said the pupils and residents had collaborated to promote and advertise the activities.
“Everyone had a fantastic day,” she said.
“It was really nice after all the culmination of activities. It brought the two groups together.”
More than 40 residents and pupils took part in field events, including an obstacle course and skittles.
“They enjoy spending time with the students,” she said.
Mrs Stonehouse said the residents had been following the Commmonwealth Games action on TV.
Mercy Place has been decorated with Scottish flags, tartan, highland cattle, kilts and haggis on display.
