Paul Lyon, 38, of Port Fairy Road, Koroit, pleaded guilty in the Warrnambool Magistrates Court court on Monday to his fifth drink-driving count and driving with false registration plates.
The court heard that on Friday, April 25, Lyon was stopped by police in Merri Street in Warrnambool with a blood-alcohol reading .142.
Police prosecutor Sergeant Sandra Skilton said Lyon admitted to drinking but refused to answer any more questions.
She said the car was also carrying the wrong registration plates.
Lyon told magistrate Peter Mellas he got behind the wheel “through my own stupidity”.
“You knew you had enough ... that you shouldn’t drive,” Mr Mellas said.
“You’re going to be faced with a lengthy time off the road.
“Think about your drinking so you don’t end up in this situation again.”
Lyons was banned from driving for 28 months, convicted and fined $763.
