Captain Frost and his Australian over 50s teammates defeated host nation the Netherlands 4-2 in the third-placed play-off.
The win came after they lost a semi-final to England, 2-0. England lost to Germany in the decider, 1-0.
“Proud of the lads to come back after yesterday’s loss,” Frost wrote on Facebook after the play-off.
Frost, who lives in Geelong, told The Standard last month Australia entered the tournament with one of the strongest sides it had assembled.
His men won all three of their round-robin matches and came back from 2-0 down to beat Scotland 3-2 in a quarter-time, before succumbing to England.
The masters’ tournament coincided with the elite-level event at nearby The Hague, which featured Australia’s top women’s and men’s sides.
The Hockeyroos won silver, losing to the Netherlands 2-0 in the grand final — their best finish in eight years. The Kookaburras retained the title they won in 2010, thrashing the Netherlands 6-1.
