Planning approvals have been ticked off by the city council and Public Transport Victoria (PTV) for a double-length stop on the eastern lane of Gateway Road.
The facilities are partly in response to a public outcry over radical changes to the city’s bus network which initially indicated there would be no bus stops in or near the plaza.
A new pedestrian road crossing has also been completed near the Gateway Road bus stop site.
City council communications manager Nick Higgins said he understood Public Transport Victoria was discussing the western side bus stop with Wannon Water.
“Warrnambool City Council has approved the eastern side bus stop. Construction is now up to PTV and its contractor,” he said.
