STAY Residential Services provide accommodation, support programs and services for people with a disability in the Hamilton region.
Chief executive officer Maree Sandford said the teenagers were excited about the opportunity.
“They will hopefully enjoy a fun play in the snow at Falls Creek,” she said.
“This will be the biggest holiday activity we have planned and no doubt just the beginning of more exciting adventures to come.”
STAY supports 16 people with a disability who live in STAY residential homes, provides respite for 47 people and supports other people with disabilities in the community.
Each holidays STAY clients have an opportunity to book in for a week of organised activities that include bush walking, tenpin bowling, boating, fishing and beach parties.
During the Easter school holidays 60 clients participated in the program.
“There was a huge response and we had an average of each client attending two days,” Ms Sandford said.
“The clients enjoyed lots of exercise and fun and laughter. One of the highlights was an Easter picnic at Mount Eccles, where both the adults and children hunted for strategically hidden Easter eggs.”
STAY obtained funding for the bus trip through the Herbert Allen Bequest and is currently running a public appeal for $100,000 to renovate its main office.
