Police believe there is a link between burglaries at the Warrnambool Golf Club, South Rovers and Russells Creek football netball clubs early on Saturday morning.
Small amounts of cash were stolen from two of the clubs, while damage was caused to each property during forced entry through doors, according to Warrnambool’s Sergeant Cameron Ross.
“We’ve got some leads and avenues of inquiry we’re following up but anyone with information should call Crime Stoppers or Warrnambool CIU,” he said.
“We haven’t had any like this for quite a while so it’s unusual to have three or four in one night. It’s a good thing clubs don’t keep a great amount of cash on their premises.”
Police are also investigating an aggravated burglary early yesterday morning, about 5.30am at a Livingston Court home.
A man aged in his 20s attended a property and forced his way into the house before assaulting the male and female occupants, also aged in their 20s. The occupants’ injuries were minor and not life threatening, according to police.
Although the offender fled before police arrived, his identity is known to police.
Meanwhile, a donation tin and unknown amount of cash was stolen from the premises of the Full Bloom Boutique Nursery on Lava Street.
Between the close of business at 5pm on Saturday and 10am yesterday, an offender climbed the property’s fence and stole the Lion’s club donation tin from an unsecured counter.
Anyone with information can contact Senior Constable David MacPhail at the Warrnambool police station, or contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
