Pestka claimed his second win in two nights when he defeated Brad Kellar and Jamie Veal at Mount Gambier's Borderline Speedway on Saturday night.
The victory came 24 hours after he greeted the chequered flag at Avalon Raceway to take the night one honours.
A top-five result at Allansford's Premier Speedway in the finale tonight will likely secure Pestka back-to-back Easter Sprintcar Trail crowns.
Veal, who ran third on night one, looms the biggest threat to Pestka taking the title and will start among the favourites to win in front of his home crowd.
EARLIER: DEFENDING champion Daniel Pestka has landed the first strike in his bid for a second-consecutive Easter Sprintcar Trail title.
The South Australian, driving for car owner Matt Eastham, scored a memorable victory on night one of the three-leg series at Avalon Raceway on Friday night.
The triumph came less than a month after he won the Sprintcar Racing Association of Victoria series grand final at Allansford's Premier Speedway.
Pestka started off the front row for the 30-lap feature and, despite early drama which included four attempts to get the race started, held on for the win.
Warrnambool's Jamie Veal ran second from position eight, continuing his love affair with Avalon Raceway this season.
Former Warrnambool legend Max Dumesny ran third while South Australian Trevor Green was fourth.
Albury racer Grant Anderson produced one of the drives of the night to rise from last to run fifth.
But there is work ahead for some of the biggest names in sprintcar racing, namely Mount Gambier gun Steven Lines.
Lines started beside Pestka but retired after a handful of laps with a flat tyre, the consequence of an incident involving Peter Mills who flipped.
Melbourne racer Brett Milburn also failed to finish after crashing into the turn three wall on lap 20.
The incident ensured the Avalon track championship went to Tasmanian Shaun Dobson, driving for Warrnambool car owner Harry Droste.
Night two of the Easter Sprintcar Trail is at Mount Gambier's Borderline Speedway tonight.
The series wraps up at Premier Speedway tomorrow. The meeting is the last at the Allansford track this season, with gates from 3pm and racing from 5pm.
