The progress association is planning a fun day at the town’s recreation reserve with displays of rare, custom and historic vehicles, a barbecue lunch, spinning wheel and children’s activities.
All proceeds will aid the Royal Children’s Hospital.
Organiser Jen Gordon said the fun day would go ahead despite any road closures that have isolated the town since the weekend bombing incident.
She said the best way for visitors to reach the town from the west was via Camperdown.
People travelling along the Hamilton Highway from Lismore should advise the roadblock controllers they are attending the fun day to gain access.
Mrs Gordon said they were hoping for a good turn-up.
“Everyone knows somebody who has used the hospital. It’s such a worthwhile cause.”
She said several of the town’s families had travelled to Good Friday events in other towns over the years.
“We thought, why can’t Derri do this?”
Mrs Gordon said enthusiasts were being encouraged to display their cars, motorbikes and trucks. Many have already been confirmed including the historic Holden FX racing replica that completed last year’s Monte Carlo Historic Rally with V8 Supercar drivers Craig Lowndes and Richard Davison on board.
Activities will include craft, face painting, races and a visit from the Easter bunny and a barbecue luncheon will include a menu with fish.
Prizes valued at thousands of dollars will be up for offer on spinning wheel draws. They include accommodation, a brushcutter, cooking utensils, make-up and items donated by Craig Lowndes.
The fun day runs from 11am until 3pm.
