An issue with a power pole at Cecil Place cut power supply from 8pm to 2am for all but nine of the 2180 impacted.
A Powercor spokesman said workers had remotedly rerouted supply for most customers during the night and would be inspecting the damaged insulator or pole on Friday morning to restore the final nine customers.
"These things are fairly common and require maintenance from time to time, like a road does," he said.
Port Fairy experienced multiple outages in October caused by a similar equipment failure.
In January the energy network operator apologised to Port Fairy residents for three outages in less than a week, caused by blown fuses.
