Camperdown man released from hospital after home assault

A CAMPERDOWN man is expected to be released from hospital today after being assaulted in his home by an intruder yesterday morning.

The Thornton Street resident and his wife are believed to have woken up about 5am and found an offender in their home.

The husband was struck to the head with a piece of wood and knocked unconscious.

He was taken to the Camperdown hospital for treatment.

It is not known if anything was stolen from the property before the offender fled.
