Cobden police Sergeant Heather Morris said the vehicle was detected heading south-west on the Cobden-Lavers Hill Road at 160km/h at 5.30pm on Saturday, January 25.
She said the 21-year-old Camperdown man would be charged on summons with driving at a dangerous and excessive speed, unlicensed driving and careless driving, to appear in the Warrnambool Magistrates Court on a date to be fixed.
Meanwhile, In Warrnambool police are hunting a man who stole a car battery from a car yard in on the weekend.
CCTV at Warrnambool Toyota captured footage of a man in a hoodie who spent about 40 minutes attempting to break into two Toyota Hilux utes about midnight on January 24.
First Constable Sheridan Moloney of Warrnambool police said: “He went under one of the (utes) to try and pop the bonnet but in the end he smashed the window of a white Hilux, popped the bonnet and has then taken a new battery from the engine bay.”
