POLICE are seeking witnesses after a jet ski was stolen from outside a Port Fairy property overnight on Australia Day.

Leading Senior Constable Greg Creek, of Port Fairy police, said the jet ski was on a trailer parked outside a Princes Highway residence before it went missing.
The predominantly black MR309 Yamaha jet ski and trailer are valued about $5000.
The theft is believed to have occurred some time overnight between January 26 and 27.

Meanwhile, a Dennington man has warned beach goers to be vigilant against thefts at the beach.
The father of five, who did not wish to be named, had a shopping bag stolen from Stingray Beach on Monday which contained his daughter’s phone and iPod.
The man’s house and car keys were also stolen. He said he believed someone had watched his daughter with her phone and then taken the belongings at the first opportunity. The theft has been reported to police.
At Heywood, fuel thieves have driven away with diesel valued at $900.
Police Senior Constable Greg Colley said the theft happened overnight Monday at Heywood Stock Feeds on the Princes Highway.
He said the offenders cut a hole in a fence and using jerry cans removed about 600 litres valued at $900 from an elevated fuel tank.
