It includes the former chairman of the now defunct Shipwreck Coast Marketing, John Maher, and marketing manager of Melbourne Museum Fay Valcanis.
Wayne Kayler-Thomson, who was interim chairman, heads the new board which will oversee tourism marketing stretching from the South Australian border to near Geelong, covering coastal and hinterland districts formerly handled by smaller organisations.
“The board has an excellent mix of skills and experience which will provide high levels of governance, strategy and policy,” Mr Kayler-Thomson said.
“Great Ocean Road region is the most visited region of Victoria outside Melbourne and deserves to have the best leadership possible to guide future development of the industry.
“The need for a new generation regional tourism organisation was recommended to local government, state government and industry stakeholders by an interim board report.”
Early next month the new board will consider a draft strategic business plan.
