The blaze in the northern Grampians was contained on Monday night but jumped containment lines last night.
Dr Napthine told The Standard he met with local tourism operators, representatives from Northern Grampians Shire and the local tourism association and said it was clear the Grampians was open for business.
“It was a significant fire but it’s well under control. There’s been no significant impact on businesses,” he said.
“The Grampians is open for business. If people are after a couple of days away I can’t think of a better place.”
Dr Napthine said morale in Halls Gap was positive and the upcoming Australia Day weekend was traditionally a busy time for the area.
He said people in the area had faced a dangerous situation which had been saved due to the great work of the CFA and the Department of Environment and Primary Industries and good luck with the wind.
