Not even a streaker could take the gloss off the day, with organisers praising the behaviour of up to 3000 racegoers.
“We’ve still got figures coming through, but we’re really happy,” club marketing boss Jade Augustine said.
Mornington trainer Shane Nichols took home the cup, with his runner Ladramahs claiming first place.
Other events like fashions on the field were a hit as adults faced younger contenders.
“The fashions on the field was fantastic. Lots of kids entered so it was really fun,” Ms Augustine said.
“It was a really well- dressed crowd.”
The day was also a chance for fund-raising campaigners to get a few more dollars towards the restoration of the 110 -year-old racecourse grandstand.
Images by some of Australia’s best country photographers were compiled into a book launched over the weekend.
Racing committee president Laurie Hickey didn’t hold back in his praises.
“There was a considerable number of books sold.
‘‘There was a raffle that raised around $2000 that will go towards it.”
