The weather for New Year’s Eve looks promising, with clouds expected to clear.
Flagstaff Hill’s New Year’s Eve on the Hill event will again be rocking with live bands, children’s activities, rides, full catering and fireworks displays at 9.30pm and midnight.
Port Fairy’s famous Moyneyana Festival New Year’s Eve parade is expected to draw thousands to the town centre to watch dozens of colourful floats by community groups and other organisations.
The parade has a ’60s theme, so there’s sure to be lots of big hair, miniskirts and flairs.
The free evening will also feature the annual Backward Sprint Championships, guaranteed to raise a laugh, children’s entertainment, live music by the popular Claymore band and a midnight fireworks spectacular.
Cobden will stage its Family Fireworks Extravaganza at the Cobden Miniature Railway and Mini Golf park in Grayland Street with a spectacular fireworks show starting about 10pm.
The night will also feature live music, a clown show, miniature train rides and mini golf.
Hamilton’s New Year’s Eve street carnival will kick off at 7pm in Gray Street.
The carnival features loads of free entertainment, including children’s activities and performances by local musicians and line dancers.
It will be followed by fireworks over Melville Oval at 10.30pm.
Portland’s annual New Year’s Eve street party will be held on the Bentinck Street lawns.
The family-friendly event includes entertainment for all ages, with live music and free children’s jumping castles.
Spectacular fireworks displays will take place over the Portland harbour at 10pm and midnight.
