The free family fun day, Experience Deakin, on Thursday, January 16, will be held from 10am-2pm and include free bus trips to Deakin’s Sherwood Park campus.
It will be the first event to celebrate Deakin University’s 40th anniversary in 2014.
Campus head Professor Gerry Quinn said the new event was designed to attract local residents and tourists and tell them what was available at the campus.
The event will provide information about Deakin courses and research but will also have plenty of interactive fun activities, including musical entertainment, face painting, bounce castle, arts, food and drinks.
Deakin’s research vessel, the Yolla, will be among the attractions along with an exhibit providing further material about Deakin’s campuses, courses and facilities.
In conjunction with Experience Deakin, representatives from South West TAFE will also host free information sessions.
A minibus will depart every half hour from Civic Green to the university’s Warrnambool campus where people can experience a day in the life of a Deakin student.
