Despite gales blowing down Liebig Street and December rain clouds, plenty of visitors with a sweet tooth have made their way into Warrnambool’s newest ice-creamery.
Frost Bite Stone Cold Ice-Creamery opened early this month on the corner of Liebig and Timor streets and owner Rob Berger says the sugary venture is already paying off.
“We’ve had the Mexican restaurant for 20 years. It’s a very large restaurant and we wanted to utilise the space,” Mr Berger said.
“It will cater for all times of the year. We’ll do Belgian waffles in winter.”
But the store isn’t any long-held dream from childhood. “It was a bit of a lightbulb moment,” Mr Berger revealed.
The business has been adapted from other franchise designs allowing customers to add dozens of extra ingredients to their ice-cream.
“As cold as it is, we’ve been busy enough.”
Mr Berger said the business would put on an extra seven staff over summer.
“We were rushing to get it open in time for summer,” he said.
