Sand in the golf course bunkers is to be mixed with old cooking oil to keep it from blowing away — and you’re invited to help.
It will also be an opportunity to take in the environmental aspects of the golf course, which is on the former racecourse.
Lisette Mill, facilitator with the Basalt to Bay Landcare Network, described the reserve as “just stunning”.
“The reserve committee took me on a walk around it and showed me the grasslands, the wetland, and the ancient gum tree,” Ms Mill said.
“Part of their plan is to educate visitors who come to play golf about the wonderful native flora that the course contains.
“Jenny Ryan from the group is getting 120 litres of oil from a Port Fairy takeaway and any helpers will be appreciated.”
Sunday’s sand mixing working bee will take place from 10am to noon.
