The 14 juniors and seniors will contest the Bendigo Junior Open and Association Championships.
The bronze-level open is part of the Australian Money Tournaments circuit, for open-aged players, and the Tennis Australia Junior Tour.
Warrnambool Lawn Tennis Club junior co-ordinator Jane Dunn said the squad was a good chance of returning home with a title.
Matt Moloney and Jake Dunn have claims in the men’s singles and doubles.
The highly rated pairing is attempting to add to the doubles title they won at another Bendigo tournament in April.
Jake Dunn and Ballarat’s Sophie Torcello are the fourth seeds in the mixed doubles.
Harry Boyd is the top seed in the 12 and under boys’ singles and, with Melbourne’s Daniel Peveska,in the boys’ doubles. Matt Dunn and Ben Warren could surprise in the 14 and under boys’ singles and doubles.
Sophie Drake will take on older and more experienced rivals stepping up to the women’s singles.
“Jake and Matt, they’re not seeded because they don’t play heaps of tournaments, but they both play Melbourne pennant,” Jane Dunn said.
“Harry should go OK in the singles and doubles, Matt and Ben should go OK in the doubles, they might make the quarter finals in the singles.
“It’ll be interesting to see because they’re top-age.
‘‘But it’s hard to know because they haven’t played for four or five months.”
The squad left Warrnambool yesterday.
The tournament runs from today to Sunday.
Meanwhile, the WLTC is taking entries for its 2013-14 Saturday pennant senior competition.
Entries for the junior competition will be available in the coming weeks.
