WARRNAMBOOL'S Marc Leishman has celebrated the birth of his second child with a hat-trick of birdies to be well-placed after a weather-delayed first day of the US PGA Tour's rich playoffs.
Leishman, wife Audrey and eldest son Harvey welcomed Oliver, into the world last Sunday, just two days before the Warrnambool professional had to pack his bags for The Barclays event in Jersey City, New Yersey.
With Audrey and Oliver doing well, Leishman entered the $US8million event upbeat.
He was forced to wait much of the day as rain halted play for almost six hours but when he teed off when most people would be preparing dinner, he made a solid start through five holes, making a string of pars. But he reeled off three consecutive birdies from the 6th to the 8th holes before play was halted because of darkness. He sits at three-under, four behind American Kevin Stadler, who fired a seven-under 64.
