Show secretary Vicki Marr said the event on Saturday attracted a record attendance, with up to 5500 people coming through the gates.
The show was blessed with good weather after an early shower and its reputation as a great family-friendly event that is also popular with farmers helped draw the big crowd, Mrs Marr said.
“We try to preserve the picnic day feel about it,” Mrs Marr said of the show’s atmosphere.
She said about five of the six regional agricultural machinery dealers had trade stands at the show, attracting lots of farmers.
Mrs Marr said a new dog jumping competition had provided a great spectacle and new rides in sideshow alley had also been popular.
New facilities including a livestock pavilion and a showjumping arena had drawn good entries, while exhibitors of dairy goats were particularly appreciative of their animals’ accommodation in the livestock pavilion.
Mrs Marr said a good spring had produced a bountiful display of flowers for the floral competition and Terang College students were among those busy baking for the show, producing 43 entries for the decorated cakes section.
Tubby the Robot, and little Tubby who gets pushed in a pram, were again a hit with the crowd.
“Tubby loves coming down here,” Mrs Marr said. “He loves the vibe.”
Mrs Marr said the show society appreciated the support it received from the local community and sponsors.
