Rising star Amidzovski wins more gold at Trinbago23

Amidzovski followed her long-jump victory by winning the women's 100 metres hurdles gold medal in Trinidad and Tobago.

Also on day six of competition, Australian cyclist Tayte Ryan won the men's sprint while Lauren Bates saluted in the women's scratch race.

And Australian swimmers Hannah Allen (women's 800m freestyle) and Mikayla Bird also collected gold - Bird's women's 200m butterfly victory is her third gold of the meet.

Amidzovski added to her list of achievements this year which include breaking the national 100m hurdles U18 record held by Sally Pearson for two decades.

In her final, Amidzovski overcame problems with the starting blocks to win in 13.25 seconds, outside her national age record of 13.02.

"The start was a bit tricky, we were asked to stand up a few times, and after I got out of the blocks I had to take my time to find my stride," Amidzovski said.

"I was having a bit of a chat to myself this morning, I was a bit sore after the long jump.

"And I reminded myself it's mind over matter, mind over body, and then focused on this race."

At the velodrome, Ryan delivered on his sprint favouritism - he was fastest qualifier entering the gold medal duel and outclassed Trinidad and Tobago's Syndal Samaroo to win both races.

"I rode exactly how I wanted ... I am absolutely happy with how it has all played out," he said.

In the women's scratch final, Bates collected the gold medal and compatriot Keira Will took the bronze.

Liliya Tatarinoff (women's sprint bronze) and Noah Blannin (men's 3000m pursuit bronze) also claimed their maiden cycling medals.

Swimmers Allen and Bird added to Australia's medal haul on the penultimate day of competition.

Allen won the 800m freestyle in a timed final across two heats in a time of eight minutes 48.66 seconds while Bird won the butterfly final in 2:12.66.

Queenslander Poppy Stephen secured silver behind Bird while Australia also collected bronze in the mixed 4x100m relay.

Meanwhile, Australia's Fast5 netballers advanced to a gold medal bout against South Africa with two comprehensive victories.

The Australians trounced Trinidad and Tobago 64-2 in their last pool game before dispatching England 44-25 in a semi-final.

And Australia's beach volleyballers Jasmine Rayner and Cameron Zajer also secured a slot in a gold medal match, surviving a tense battle against New Zealand's Kiana Stevenson and Tineke Hinton.

The Australian duo won 22-20 in both sets and will meet Canada's Calinda Kok and Katarina Drozd in the final.
