Two men have denied kidnapping a man to use as bait and attempting to murder the friend who came looking for him.
Imad Warwar, 32, and Moustafa Mariam, 39, allegedly kidnapped Issa Hammoud and detained him for 10 hours in March 2021, while attempting to get him to contact Asesela Davui.
Police allege when Mr Daviu showed up to a location in southwest Sydney, the pair shot at him.
Warwar and Mariam both pleaded not guilty in the Sydney District Court on Friday to three charges each - kidnapping, attempted murder and intent to cause grievous bodily harm.
The co-accused appeared via audiovisual link from jail to enter their pleas.
Police were called to Roselands in the early hours of March 14 after residents reported hearing gunshots.
Officers stopped a Holden Captiva in the area after noticing bullet holes in the driver's side of the vehicle.
The driver, Mr Daviu, was treated at the scene for gunshot wounds to his leg and buttocks before being taken to hospital in a stable condition. Warwar and Mariam were later arrested.
Both will remain in custody until their trial in February 2024.
