Queenslanders will receive discounts on their power bills after a deal was struck with the federal government to stump up cash for the Rockhampton Ring Road and a state energy plan.

National cabinet agreed on Friday to a four-part plan, including $1.5 billion in relief to support households and businesses, which will be paid through state governments.
Gas prices will be capped to $12 a gigajoule for 12 months, while coal will be temporarily capped at $125 a tonne.
Premier Annastacia Palaszczuk said in return for directing the state's public-owned generators to cap thermal coal prices, Queensland will get federal funding for early works on the Borumba and Pioneer dam pumped hydropower projects.
The state will also have funding reinstated for the next stage of the Rockhampton Ring Road.
"There's been a lot of behind-the-scenes discussions, but at the end of the day, we work best when we work together," she told reporters.
"And I'm absolutely pleased with the outcome that has been achieved today."
