Grandview Avenue is lining up for his fourth run in a month in the 1100-metre race for the Warrnambool-based trainer but Elford said the lightly raced six-year-old was in great shape.
"I'm very happy with Grandview Avenue's condition," he told The Standard.
"His last run to finish third at Terang was good and prior to that he ran in listed races at Flemington and Caulfield.
"Grandview Avenue is a 90-rater. He's a hard horse to find suitable races for now. The races in town are really tough to win but he's weighted out of country races because he's been so consistent."
Elford said Rawiller was deserving of the ride on Grandview Avenue.
"We decided to give Campbell the ride. He's rode a few horses for me and I think he's an underrated jockey," he said.
"I'm sure from the good barrier (two) Campbell will give Grandview Avenue a good ride."
Grandview Avenue is rated a $50 chance by bookmakers in the early betting markets.
Fellow Warrnambool trainers Aaron Purcell, Matthew Williams, Daniel Bowman and Lindsey Smith have runners at Caulfield while Ciaron Maher, who trains in partnership with David Eustace, have three runners on the nine-race program.
