The Amendment C69 is out for exhibition and comment and provides all the reason why it is not a good idea to subdivide this parcel of land into a 75-lot development.

However, a surprising little asterisk on one map provides a loop hole that can be jumped through while everybody is busy having a holiday.

Amend C75moyn is a response to that asterisk, which incidentally has no substantive documentation to support it in 200 pages and more of Amendment C69moyn.

I would like to see the following considered...

An enclosed seawater pool and an indoor water park with water slides and leisure centre, incorporating various pools, including a large hydrotherapy pool.

(Swimming at the eastern beach reserve in Geelong in summer was such a treat as was the Ballarat Aquatic and Lifestyle Centre in winter time).

A new surf lifesaving club that incorporates the club's own cafe/restaurant on the first floor and a gymnasium and community rooms for yoga/pilates/exercise on the second floor.

The Summer Carnival to be set-up between the Lady Bay Hotel and the Pavilion cafe.

In your paper, on the TV, every click for the past 12 months, there has been a push to "get vaccinated".

A promise of "life will be normal", so for the most part we have followed the media's lead and been vaccinated.

Now, we - the vaccinated - are being told to get tested even when there are no symptoms; some even show positive test results and still have no symptoms.

So the vaccination has worked? Yes?

I am as confused as the next bloke. If you have no symptoms, why on earth would you need to get tested in the first place?

Do you really need to know or does it matter if you have a virus that is not affecting you?

The comment made by some "you may infect someone else". With what? Something that should not harm them if the vaccinations are what they are revved up to be?

The critics will say "it's too late once they're infected". New strains are unbeatable - or are they?

If you are sick, well, go see a doctor.

If the mass testing and vaccination centres scale back there is more than enough staff to transition back to hospitals or use one of these centres to care for people who ACTUALLY fall ill.

I am wondering what the vaccination was for if we're still jumping at shadows?

Is it the unvaccinated we are worried about now or who are we shutting shop for now?

A confused vaccinated fool is all I am. Help me.

When it comes to climate change in Australia, it appears to me that we really have two optional paths to follow.

The first option is to follow a dominant economic path that largely ignores the dangers of climate change, with limp laws in place to protect the environment, that risks creating a world that may be devoid of life sometime this century or soon thereafter.

The second optional path to follow is one that incorporates an acknowledgement that climate change is an extremely serious threat to continuing life on earth and how important it is to ensure that major economic decisions can only be finalised and adopted if all related environmental matters are given full consideration backed with environmental protecting laws that have real teeth.

The present year will be an extremely important one in relation to climate change. Will its importance be recognised and acted upon or will it continue to be treated as an irritation, that if ignored for long enough, will possibly somehow go away?
