South West Healthcare announced it had closed the line at the Deakin University mass testing centre at 1.50pm when there would have been a wait time of four to five hours.

The clinic will open again at 8am until 6pm on Thursday.

An earlier version of this article had incorrectly said the site closed four hours early, which it hadn't.

"Thank you to everyone for your patience, we understand being parked around a footy oval is not how you want to spend your time, and we thank anyone who has managed to entertain small children in the car in order to get tested and keep our community safe," SWH posted online.

The wait time was an average of 4.5 hours on Wednesday.

You do not need to make a booking at the clinic but you do need a registration number to receive results.

Clinical Labs has taken over the old Callaghan Motors site at 133 Fairy Street for walk-in COVID-19 testing.

Signage on the site indicates it is open Monday to Friday, 8am to 5pm and Saturday from 8am to 12pm.

The clinic is closed Sunday.

Warrnambool saw a record 46 new COVID-19 infections overnight, bringing active cases in the city to 93.

As of Wednesday the south-west recorded 140 new cases, bringing active cases to 349.

There have been 21 new infections in Moyne Shire (48 active cases), 14 new infections in Glenelg Shire (53 active cases), 19 new infections in Southern Grampians Shire (32 active cases), 19 new infections in Corangamite Shire (35 active cases) and 21 new infections in Colac-Otway Shire (88 active cases).

Supermarkets and chemists across Warrnambool have sold out of the highly sought after rapid antigen tests.

There were no tests available on Wednesday morning in the CBD or Gateway Plaza, with staff reporting delays in deliveries.

"They have been running out the door within five minutes," a Coles Warrnambool worker said.

Coles expect deliveries twice weekly.

The RATs are not available at Aldi, and Woolworths reported delays in stock.

Most chemists expect deliveries around midday, three times a week.

A Chemist Warehouse Warrnambool worker said after Friday stock levels were expected to be more consistent.

It comes as Victoria recorded 17,636 new COVID cases overnight, with nearly one in three tests coming back positive.

There were 11 deaths reported in Wednesday's figures, with testing numbers dropping slightly below 60,000 again.

Active cases are now at 51,317.

There are 591 people in hospital and 20 on ventilators.

Premier Daniel Andrews will interrupt his leave on Wednesday to attend national cabinet.

The first national cabinet meeting of 2022 will address community concerns around access to rapid antigen tests, which have soared to five times their regular price in some places - up to $50 per test.

Victoria's supply of 34 million rapid tests is expected to arrive and roll out later this week, Mr Weimar said.

He has also flagged the launch of a website allowing people to upload their RAT results and be officially counted in the daily numbers once there is confidence of supply.
