It was the second year the event had been held at Port Fairy's East Beach after relocating from the Moyne River to be closer to the surf lifesaving club, which raises crucial funding from the competition.

The main race was preceded by a corporate competition with 55 larger ducks making their leisurely journey to shore.

In the main competition it cost $5 per duck, with a first, second and third prize of $800, $300 and $200 respectively.

Each duck cost $100 in the corporate race, with the winner collecting $1000 cash. House of Hair was the lucky victor in the corporate competition, winning with duck number 55, which incredibly also won last year's competition.

In the main race Melbourne man Sean Mantesso won with duck 1232, with Kath Mulley and Sophie Satchell making up the minor places.

Port Fairy SLSC fundraising and events coordinator Lucy Lehne said it was great to have a big crowd and sell all 1555 ducks despite the uncertainty created by rising COVID-19 cases.
