Heywood police intercepted the vehicle travelling more than 40 km/h over the speed limit at Drumborg.
When asked why he was driving so fast the driver said it was "a long straight bit of road and there was no traffic".
The motorist was fined $682 and his licence will be suspended for six months.
The region's highway patrol units are conducting road policing Operation Roadwise during the Christmas holiday break.
Commencing on December 17, the operation will run through to December 27 and focuses on excessive speed, driver distraction, seat belt compliance, fatigue and impaired driving.
