The CBD was thriving on Thursday night as many enjoyed a drink at local pubs and restaurants to celebrate the festive season.
Sergeant James van Engelen said there were a few drunk people moved on and told to go home overnight but overall behaviour was pleasing.
He said police were focusing on anti-social behaviour and enforcing council bylaw alcohol regulations in the Lake Pertobe and beach areas.
He urged the community to continue their good behaviour, to have fun but drink responsibly.
"Look after your mates and don't drink and drive," Sergeant van Engelen said.
