The scene was deemed safe at 4.20pm.
A Powercor spokesman said crews had attended the scene and that the incident was storm related.
He said a lightning strike caused damage to the pole, which would need to be replaced.
He said there may have also been transformer damage.
"Crews will work to replace the pole," he said.
There are five customers currently experiencing a power outage in the Pomborneit area with estimated restoration about 8.30pm.
The spokesman said Powercor crews had been busy on Sunday with storm-related incidents.
Powercor's website said 50 customers were also without power in Warrnambool's Lava Street and Koroit Street following a fault on Sunday afternoon.
The cause is still under investigation and power is expected to be restored by about 8pm.
