Works to repair storm damage on the Warrnambool breakwater will start soon, the state government has confirmed.
"The local port manager, Warrnambool City Council, has started planning for critical repairs to reopen closed sections of the walkway following a significant storm in April 2021," a state government spokeswoman said.

"Repairs will enable the inner section of the breakwater to be reopened to pedestrians, including anglers.
"Further repairs to the outer section of the breakwater are also being planned."
The spokeswoman said the city's boat ramp was a vital launching point in south-west Victoria for locals and visitors who own trailer boats and head offshore to fish, dive and enjoy time on the water with family and friends.
The spokeswoman said the state government had provided $3.5 million to upgrade the boat ramp.
She said the new project would boost functionality and safety by resurfacing the two-lane ramp with grooved concrete slabs to make it safer when launching or retrieving boats.
New jetties will replace ageing wooden structures on either side of the ramp to provide more space for boats to be tied up and improvements to rock revetments will provide added protection from wave action, the spokeswoman said.
"We have made boat ramps across the state free for all Victorians to enjoy, and Better Boating Victoria is currently progressing the biggest boat ramp infrastructure upgrade in Victoria's history with a dedicated new $33 million boating fund," the spokeswoman said.
"Works to repair sections of the Warrnambool Breakwater will get under way soon, following damage caused by a significant storm in April 2021."
