Theatre lovers returned to the Lighthouse Theatre on Thursday night for its 2022 season launch and were treated to a performance by dynamic violinist Roy Theaker and his six-piece band.
Service manager Xavier Dannock said the upcoming program was its "largest and best season" yet and featured an exciting line-up.
"There is a great mix of performance genres next year, from classical and contemporary music, drama, opera, dance, cabaret, and circus. With such a broad range of shows coming next year, there truly is a show for everyone..." Mr Dannock said.
IN OTHER NEWS:
He said its theme was Celebrating Together to mark the return to the theatre after an uncertain two years and celebrate "the fact that life is better when it's live and in person". There will be 20 main stage productions, five morning music performances and six education and family productions in 2022.
Mr Dannock said the season featured works he hoped would bring our diverse community together including Indigenous performances like Saltbush, and LGBTI-focused performances in Become The One, as well as tackling issues such as family and domestic violence in the studio performance of King of Pigs.
For the first time there will be live Auslan interpretation accompanying performances Become The One, the Melbourne International Comedy Festival Roadshow and family show 13-Storey Treehouse. Some shows will visit outlying areas and affordability was also important with ticket prices reduced next year, he said.
