Arthur Finch, who skippers one of the club's three midweek pennant rinks, said the Western District Playing Area team respected its rivals.
"We're keen to do well again this year to show it's not a splash in the pan," he said after its 66-38 win against City Sapphires.

"I think the Tuesday pennant is very, very competitive and there's not much between a lot of teams on the day. We are hopeful of being up there again and you've got to win those sort of games early to have a chance.
"I always say the hardest thing is getting into the four; if you get into the four then you've got a chance."
Koroit Orange and Timboon Maroon have four wins and one loss. Terang Gold is nipping at their heels with a 3-2 win-loss record.

"We played Terang on their green three weeks ago and got beaten pretty easily," Finch said.
"Their green is pretty quick and we didn't adjust but we've played a bit better since.
"We played on their carpet today at City and it's not as quick as ours but it is a carpet and you know the line to take. To get three rink wins over there at City was good."
Finch said being adaptable was key.
"You have to adjust to greens when you go away or play well at home," he said.
He said the club had "picked up a few new members" which was a positive result.
"That's all we want out here each year, is to pick up new members. It's not easy to pick up new members," Finch said.
"We had our triples the second Wednesday of last month and the noise in the clubhouse before we started was just brilliant because everyone was back (after COVID-19 restrictions) and going to have a day they'd enjoy."
In other games, Koroit Orange defeated Terang Gold 82-58, Warrnambool Gold was too strong for City Diamonds 72-41 and City Rubies edged out Port Fairy Gold 58-42.
