Ex-Collingwood footballer Jay Rantall signs with SANFL club Norwood.

The former Collingwood midfielder, who spent two seasons in the AFL, was announced as a marquee signing on Monday.

"It's been a privilege to be on Collingwood's list for the past two seasons which has really helped me grow as a footballer," the South Warrnambool export told the Redlegs' website.

"It's just exciting to be able to play some consistent football next season and show the fans what I have learnt over the past two seasons."

Norwood football operations manager Rob Harding said the club was thrilled to sign Rantall, who played five games for the Magpies during his two years in the AFL system.

"He came highly recommended from the Collingwood Football Club; he is a fantastic runner and elite athlete," he said.

"He is going to be able to play midfield and play his footy on a wing which will no doubt excite our supporters.

"We're delighted to bring in a great character like Jay into our football club as well as a really strong player."

Rantall was drafted to Collingwood after impressing for NAB League club GWV Rebels.

The former Australian junior basketballer played his junior football for South Warrnambool, earning senior opportunities before he was drafted.
