Jennings went to hospital and missed most of the Pirates' five-wicket victory against Brierly-Christ Church.
"I have a torn rotator cuff so I will be out for a while," he said.
"I have to do six weeks of physio and then go from there."
Former skipper George Macdonald said while it was disappointing to lose Jennings during the Warrnambool and District Cricket Association divison one match, the result was a step in the right direction.
The Pirates limited the Bulls to 114 and had numerous contributors in their run chase.
"We spoke about it throughout the week and said we wanted to get back to basics and back to what we were doing well last year which was batting positively, fielding defensively and bowling aggressively," Macdonald said.
"We had already got a few teams out for low scores this year and our batting hasn't stood up but it was good to get the job done comfortably today.
"We didn't have too many standouts, everyone just contributed but Max Green at the end made 27.
"He went out when we tied their score. He played a really mature innings at the end which was pretty pleasing."
Macdonald said Max's sister Maddie had been "a great addition to the team the last couple of weeks".
She has now played three division one matches with her best effort 19 runs against West Warrnambool - a knock which included three boundries.
"It was unreal. We've seen her do it at training at few times and it was great to see her do it during the game," Macdonald said.
"Early days when we haven't had many wins, we had to take positives out of other things and Maddie performing well and playing in the team is one of those."
