It rang true for North Warrnambool Eagles in Friday night's Let's Talk Cup semi-final against Koroit at Deakin University oval.

The Eagles, who were humbled seven days prior, put on a dominant display with Joe McKinnon, Bailey Jenkinson and Jackson Grundy among those to have an impact in the 47-13 win.

The Tom Batten-coached side will play South Warrnambool in the grand final, which will consist of four 20-minute quarters.

The Roosters edged out Terang Mortlake in their semi-final with Ethan Harvey putting the Roosters in front late.

A goal on the siren was icing on the cake.

In between the two semi-finals, Portland defeated Warrnambool 4.7 (31) to 0.4 (4).

Jamieson Ballantyne, who was overlooked last week in the AFL draft, lined up for the Tigers.

Batten said he was pleased with the Eagles' form turnaround.

"Koroit have some really good young talent and we worked on the areas we needed to at training and addressed a few things and put it back onto the boys," he said.

"It seemed like it was a totally different team and the result spoke for itself in the end."

Grundy's efforts, which included two first-quarter goals, impressed Batten.

"He's been playing different positions and we threw it to him and put it back on our older kids who have senior experience and said to them 'just go out there and lead by example'," he said.

"Jackson, it was one of the better games I have seen him play. He stood up and led from the front and it was good to see.

"He hasn't done much training because he had knee surgery."

Batten said he enjoyed stepping into the coaching role.

"I love coaching and I've coached most of them and played with most of them," he said.

"I really enjoyed tonight and I think the boys did as well.

"Hopefully we go well next week but at the end of the day, the whole concept of this competition is to talk and get around your mates."
