Port Fairy homes snapped up for more than $5 million each

A five-bedroom house nestled in the ti-tree area of Port Fairy's Battery Hill was placed under contract on Monday, with real estate industry sources saying it sold in the vicinity of $5.4 million.

The home set a new price record for Port Fairy, Stockdale and Leggo agent Sarah McCorkell said.

The home was sold via expressions of interest and had a price range of between $4.9 and $5.2 million, Mrs McCorkell said.

"There was a lot of interest in the property," she said.

"The price achieved exceeded the client's expectations."

Mrs McCorkell said a south-west family bought the property, which is set on two levels and boasts a large deck for entertaining.

Sandcastles, a six bedroom house next to Port Fairy's surf life saving club is believed to have sold for more then $5.2 million last week.

The two-storey home offers six spacious bedrooms, three bathrooms, a deck for entertaining and a large kitchen.

Both properties were sold by expressions of interest.

Stockdale and Leggo agent Nicole Dwyer said she couldn't comment on the specifics of the sales.

"We respect our vendors and purchasers," Ms Dwyer said. "I can say we had multiple buyers interested in both properties and they have both been sold to buyers with links to the south-west."

Ms Dwyer previously told The Standard she believed the property was in one of the finest settings on the Victorian coastline.

"It's very hard to find a property so close to a beautiful safe beach like the East Beach in Port Fairy, where you are literally swimming between the flags," she said.

The sales come on the back of 72 Griffiths Street selling for just shy of $5 million in late September.

That property has east beach frontage and Moyne River views.

Port Fairy's Robertson Real Estate are offering another east beach property at 67 Beach Street for sale with expressions of interest closing at noon on Friday.

Jay Everall, agent for Robertson's said the price range for the property was between $3.6 to $3.9 million. "We've had numerous inspections to 67 Beach Street over the last few weeks," Everall said.

"It's a unique property with magnificent views of the east beach and of the Moyne River.

"The real estate market in Port Fairy is extremely strong. There are limited properties on the east beach and they are tightly held that why when one comes up there is a lot of interest."
