Bulls duo Matthew Gome and Will Colla will play for the Western Waves on Sunday against Highlanders at Mount Clear.

Dennington's Tom Powell, Allansford-Panmure's Noah Greene, Mortlake's Charlie Calvert and Port Fairy's Kaden Wilson are the other south-west players to feature.

Colla, who has played two division one games in 2021-22, said he was determined to continue developing.

"Especially playing ones, it's a big step up," Colla said.

"I'm looking forward to hopefully playing the rest of the season (in division one)."

Gome said his focus was building on a 39-run haul in division two this past weekend.

"I made a few," he laughed.

"It's good playing twos, you get a good go. Hopefully I can press up and get some good division one games too."

Colla said the chance to play alongside new players in a side coached by North Warrnambool Eels mentor John Houston was exciting.

"It'll be fun. The main thing for me is just improving my cricket and getting better all the time," he said.

"It'll be good to play with boys from Hamilton and around the district."

Gome said playing junior country week carnivals meant the duo were well-prepared for the step up to Youth Premier League cricket.

"It's been a good pathway," he said.

"It's just really good to get back into it especially after COVID and all that."

The Western Waves' under 16 team will play five-straight games in Hamilton from December 13 to 16 as a part of the Youth Premier League in a major boost for cricket in the region and Hamilton district.
