Warrnambool's annual Christmas lunch will not be held for a second consecutive year.
Organisers made the tough decision to cancel the event.
"Sadly we aren't able to hold the Christmas Day Lunch again this year," volunteer Mary Lancaster said.
"We realise this will disappoint those who come (many of whom come year after year) and our team of enthusiastic volunteers, but things are still uncertain with regards to COVID-19.
"We are really sad about it but there is so much planning involved and we feel this is the only way to go, rather than pull the pin at the last minute."
It would have been the 14th year the community was invited to share lunch at the parish hall.
Mrs Lancaster said it was hoped the event could return in 2022.
The event was last held in 2019, when about 100 people attended.
Meanwhile, there will be no limits on the number of guests residents can have in their own homes on Christmas Day.
