The man aged in his mid 30s was already on bail for similar offending, including drug and driving-related offences.
The man was arrested and conveyed to Hamilton police station.
He was interviewed and subsequently charged with possessing methamphetamine.
The man was remanded in custody overnight on Wednesday.
He appeared in a south-west court on Thursday and was convicted and fined.
The man remains on bail for the other offences and will appear in court again at a later date.
