The two organisations have purchased land next to Warrnambool's South West Regional Cancer Centre.

The $900,000 block will initially be used to provide 29 additional carparks, with the long-term goal of growing cancer-specific services for the region.

SWH redevelopment and infrastructure executive director Jamie Brennan says purchasing the 1012m2 block, at the corner of Ryot and Timor Streets, provides an opportunity to expand cancer services in the future.

He said it would initially be used to help ease parking pressure now and also during the redevelopment of the Warrnambool Base Hospital, which is situated directly opposite.

"We've engaged consultants to undertake the design development and planning preparation work to initially convert this piece of land to provide an additional 29 off-street car parks," Mr Brennan said.

SWH chief executive Craig Fraser welcomed Peter's Project Foundation's $450,000 donation to the $900,000 prime-positioned block, with the hospital picking up the other half of the bill.

Peter's Project director Vicki Jellie said the foundation was thrilled to have joined with SWH.

"This will future-proof the ongoing commitment to provide vital cancer services to the communities of south-west Victoria and beyond," Ms Jellie said.

"Our wonderful community continues to support the Peters Project Foundation and this has enabled us to contribute to this major acquisition.

"It's great to see the generosity of so many people being used to achieve such positive outcomes into the future."
