Michelle Weitering, who writes fiction novels using her maiden name Mickey Martin, has just released Soul Keepers of Glenormiston South.
The book has reached number three in Amazon's contemporary fantasy hot new releases category.
Mrs Weitering, who now lives in Frankston, said the book was a tribute to Glenormiston, her mother and Victoria as a whole.
Soul Keepers of Glenormiston South is an urban/fantasy/romance novel with environmental and ecological messages.
Glenormiston College is the setting for the novel, which is set in a world that is slowly dying and suffering at the hands of greedy humans.
Mrs Weitering said the book was the first in her Victoria Collection - which pays tribute to the state she calls home and loves.
"We really took a beating during the COVID-19 pandemic and this is partly my way to get the rest of Australia, even the world, interested in exploring the Western District and Victoria," she said.
Mrs Weitering has five other published books, including The Given Trilogy, which recently won a Five Star Gold Book Award and two Five Star Silver Book Awards from Literary Titan.
She will host a celebration of the book at The Wheatsheaf Hotel in Terang on January 8 and hopes to catch up with family and friends in the district.
Copies of the book are available at Collins Booksellers in Warrnambool and Amazon.
