Jones, who played at South West District league outfit Heywood and Hampden league club Portland before being drafted to Geelong in 2016, is understood to have informed the club at the time of the offence.
"The club is bitterly disappointed with Jones' actions and will review the incident after the hearing with the likelihood of a separate sanction," West Coast said in a statement.
"There is no excuse for getting behind the wheel under the influence of alcohol and Jones is extremely remorseful for this serious error of judgement."
Jones' stint with Geelong notched up seven games before he shifted out west in 2020. He has so far featured 15 times in blue and gold.
