Constable Bevan Marr said the incident happened late on the afternoon of Friday, October 15.
"At about 5pm the male teenage victim was running along Wangoom-Allansford Road, on the north side of the Princes Highway near sweeping bends," he said.
"He has turned and ran west onto Drylakes Road towards Warrnambool.
"Having travelled about 30 metres from the intersection, he was struck to the right hip by a sedan which has approached him from behind, causing the victim to fall over.
"The vehicle failed to stop and continued along Drylakes Road.
"The only description of the vehicle is it was a white sedan, possibly a Holden Commodore, but it has a loud exhaust."
The victim was transported to Warrnambool Base Hospital, but fortunately did not suffer any serious injuries.
Anyone with information is requested to contact Constable Marr at the Warrnambool police station on 5560 1333 or Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
