Facebook posts from hospitality venues about the subject have caused enormous interest and comment from both pro and anti-vaccination supporters.

Daily Grain Cafe operator Donna Scott said she was surveying customers to determine their views before making a decision about whether to change from the previous restrictions, which include 10 people indoors and 20 outdoors.

She said casual enquiries indicated that some customers had received one vaccination but were yet to receive a second.

"We're trying to get a feel, we're asking our customers, polling them and we'll make a decision on Monday if we are going to change. We're just asking very nicely," she said.

Tilly Divine Cafe owner Rachael Street said she had moved to double vaccinated only patrons.

"We're really happy that we can have more patrons inside," Ms Street said.

"We're feeling really confident the public is going to be cooperative and supportive of what we're trying to do, which is working within the legislation.

"People have been great so far, very cooperative and happy to show their vaccine certificate."

Bohemia Cafe operator Steve Hickman said he was sticking by the previous restrictions due to the new requirement that all staff had to be double vaccinated.

"Nothing changes for us because not all our staff are fully vaccinated," he said.

"I think businesses will choose a model that works for them. Those businesses with larger floor space may find the double vaccinated option attractive.

"Hospitality with smaller floor space may stick to the previous restrictions. For us it doesn't make a lot of difference."

Mr Hickman said he had been in touch with hospitality representative bodies which told him there was a 50/50 split between businesses taking on those taking up the new requirements and those sticking to the old.

He said it seemed that some operators may not want to check whether their patrons were double vaccinated.

Other cafes and hotels contacted did not want to reveal their stance as they did not want to aggravate customers either pro or anti-vaccinations.

Other pro-vaccination businesses have taken to prominent signage to make their position clear before people enter their venues.
