Kate Henman has been battling with stage three ovarian cancer since 2016.

The 26-year-old was suffering from fatigue and abdominal pain.

Doctors completed a number of tests and at first thought she might be pregnant.

However, when the pain became unbearable, her father rushed her to hospital.

"Scans and tests were done and she was sent to the Peter MacCallum Centre Centre for emergency surgery," boyfriend Jake Malseed said.

"Once Kate was on the operating table, doctors realised the extent of the cancer and had to remove parts of her bowel."

Ms Henman also had a hysterectomy and her spleen was removed.

"She woke up being told you can never have children when she had just been asked if she was pregnant," Mr Malseed said.

Ms Henman underwent chemotherapy and the couple was thrilled when they were told she was cancer free.

However, tests a year later revealed it had returned.

Now, Ms Henman hopes to access immunotherapy to treat the disease.

The only hurdle for the couple is the cost of the treatment.

"The treatment is expensive," Mr Malseed said.

He said one round was expected to cost $25,000 and it was not known how many rounds his girlfriend would need.

"The amount of treatment she gets depends on if the treatment is working or not," Mr Malseed said.

"This is a huge financial burden for us."

Mr Malseed said he was doing everything he could to ensure his partner had the best chance of beating the deadly disease.

He has started a GoFundMe page and has been blown away from the support from community members, with about $14,000 raised to date.

"The community has been very supportive and we can't thank everyone enough," Mr Malseed said.

Ms Henman has good days and bad days.

"Some days she finds it hard to stay positive due to pain and some days everything just falls into place and we have a wonderful time together," he said.

Mr Malseed said he would do everything in his power to grant his partner's wish.

"Kate just wants to grow old."

Ms Henman urged people experiencing pain to seek multiple opinions from health professionals and ask for additional tests.
